Healthy Chicken Crust Taco Pizza FAQs
What is chicken crust pizza?
Well, chicken crust pizza is just that. The crust is made with ground chicken. Other recipes may call for canned chicken or shredded chicken. My preference is fresh flavors so I went with the ground chicken crust.

How do you make the chicken crust for pizza?
The ground chicken is usually combined with a binder like egg and cheese, seasoned, and formed into a circle about 1/4″ thick on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
The pizza crust is about 10″ in diameter depending on how “thick” you like your crust.
At what temperature do you bake chicken crusted pizza?
The crust is baked at 400F for about 20-22 minutes.
After the crust is baked, add the toppings, then re-bake for another 7-10 minutes. A quick 2-3 minutes under the broiler allows the cheese to get nice and crusty.
What toppings can I put on top of a healthy ground chicken pizza crust?
What a question! The possibilities are endless here!
Like any pizza, go easy on the toppings to keep the crust sturdy and sliceable.
First I would start with a theme? Season the crust according to your theme, then go with your favorite toppings.
- Italian: Mozzarella and tomato sauce or pesto.
- Barbeque: Barbeque sauce, red onion, mozzarella, cilantro.
- Mediterranean: hummus, olive oil, roasted red peppers, olives, feta, spinach.
- Buffalo: Buffalo sauce, mozzarella, red onion, blue cheese.
Alternatively, bake just the crust and finish with fresh toppings without returning it to the oven.
Note that pizzas with fresh toppings are best enjoyed right away.
- Cesar salad
- Hummus with all your favorite toppings
- Greek yogurt with sun-dried tomatoes, olives, artichokes, feta
- Guacamole, salsa, red onion, olives
Ground Chicken Pizza Crust Recipe Tips
- Use parchment paper on a sheet pan to form and bake the crust. This helps ensure the crust releases easily from the baking sheet and doesn’t stick.
- Evenly spread the crust into a circle about 1/4 inch.
- The crust will release some moisture; carefully blot it with a paper towel if needed during and after baking.
- Precook watery vegetables such as mushrooms and zucchini, before adding to the crust for second bake.
- Save fresh toppings for the top after baking for extra flavor, such as green onion, black olives, lettuce.
- Please use cheese from a block and shred yourself, rather than packaged shredded cheese. Block cheese is usually much better in taste, texture, and value.
- Like any pizza, go easy on the toppings to keep the crust sturdy and sliceable.
